This evocative painting portrays a finger being pricked, which is a daily reality for diabetics as they manage their blood sugar levels, highlighting the toll this routine takes on the body with the addition of yet another bruise.

Receiving special recognition in National Scholastic's 2024 competition, "Mami and Me" portrays me in my mother's arms during a family vacation to South Africa. The drawing vividly conveys the warmth and happiness of our time together.

In this artwork, my best friend and I are sitting together on my hospital bed, hugging the teddy bear she brought me during her visit.
